Geljan, Sukubari, Ngima Lamu and Nancy
Ngawang Gelje Sherpa
In December 2025, Mr. Ngawang Gelje Sherpa passed away, leaving behind his wife, Mrs. Sukubari Rai, and their two young daughters, Ngima Lamu and Nancy.
Geljan was a trekking guide by profession and the main source of income for his family. He worked with people from around the world and was known to many as a trusted and kindhearted person.

His death has left his family facing an uncertain future. Today, Sukubari, aged 39, is caring for her two daughters in Kathmandu without a regular source of income or family property to rely on.
Ngima Lamu and Nancy
Geljan’s elder daughter, Ngima Lamu Sherpa, 17, has completed her Secondary Education Examination (SEE) and has been admitted to Nepal Army College for a three-year CTEVT Diploma in Physiotherapy.
His younger daughter, Nancy Sherpa, 14, is currently studying in Grade 9 at a private high school.
Both daughters are continuing their education, while their mother is working to care for the family and secure their future.
Education can change the future
Ngima’s three-year physiotherapy diploma is an important part of the family’s longer-term plan. When she completes her studies and enters employment, she will have the opportunity to contribute to the family’s income and help create greater stability.
At the same time, Nancy will continue her education and develop her own future opportunities.
With appropriate support during these critical years, the family can move from dependence toward independence.
